VistaView Saber DA-1N1-E Combo Analog/Digital PCI Express x1 TV Tuner Card, Retail
[DA-1N1-E]
$99.95
by Darrel Enyart Date Added: Friday 02 May, 2008
I have tried many tuners. ATI HDTV Wonder, AverTVHD MCE A180, VBox DTA 150, ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI, AverMedia M780 PCIe Combo, and then this Saber DA-1n1-E Combo. It works better than many, but not quite as good as the best. It has as good of picture quality as any on analog cable channels. The ATI 650 may be just a bit better, but it is VERY close. The picture quality of digital is of course fine except it is a little weaker at locking in on digital channels. That causes occasional skips. It is a better ATSC tuner than the ATI 650 PCI tuners I have, but not as good as the VBox DTA 150 (which is the strongest tuner I have ever used). It runs real hot, but that seems to be the normal mode of operation for many of these tuners. It almost got sent back due to the weaker ATSC tuning, but the superior NTSC encoding convinced me to keep it.
